Poster's Note: When I politely asked the owner of the vehicle, an old lady, if she had forgotten to display her disability parking permit, she said "oh, I don't have one, but I'm old so it's ok to park here". Unfortunately for her, age is not, in and of itself, a disability, and those spaces are for people with restricted mobility due to a disability or impairment.

The taxi company was contacted and their general manager is going to look into it. He said:
"If you have any additional information on the date and time of this incident I would welcome the receipt of that so we can identify the driver concerned at the time and address the matter with them directly.

I may not buy more in one go, but I guarantee you I spend as much, if not more, than the average punter does in a week.

By that i mean they have few issues pushing around large food carts.

I once asked a woman who had just parked in a disabled spot if she had forgotten to display HER permit ... and she said, "My LEGS are hurtin!"
Geez.
As I truly agree with the OP, I will cut the elderly some slack. If they are having a hard time, I feel they've earned it!! If they are parking at the mall to walk laps... different story.
If someone is elderly and requires the parking space, they can get their doctors to fill out the appopriate forms and get a parking permit. It's a simple, painless, and relatively inexpensive process. The bottom line is, "no permit, no park".
Well the sad fact is that here in NZ out permits are distributed by the CCS(crippled childrens society), a charitable organisation, and recently it was rumoured it has decided that disability in itself isnt raising them enough money so they are in fact offering the permits to anyone that achieves a certain age(not sure how old) mobility impairment or not... As I have always said..."old age is not a disability, it is an enevitability"... I wish I was half as fit as most of these old aged persons seem to be!!!
I also notice they have appeared on this fine website before back in Sept. 06... old people and old habits...
Hey, if you're good enough to drive without any difficulty, then you should park your car with the rest of us!
Else get a disability parking permit.
If you're so old it could be taken as a disability, then pls. DON'T DRIVE! ANY car driven by someone with slow reflexes is dangerous, is like driving drunk!
