A "Hall of Shame" to expose cars parked illegally
in disability or mobility parking spaces.
Well folks, I am happy to say that the ABC syndicated show Good Morning America had a brief segment talking about Caughtya.org! The show is viewed by an average 6 million people every day. This is good exposure for the site, and particularly for the issue of abuse of disability parking spaces. It is an important issue, and one that affects literally millions of people worldwide.
You can view the segment by going to the GMA website. Towards the top right of the screen, you'll have a link to a video dated 7th June 2007, titled "Online Tattletale".
The fact that shows such as Good Morning America believe it is important to talk about the issue of disability parking abuse reflects how big a problem it really is. USA Today and the Wall Street Journal, also important "players" in the media arena, also discussed our site.
But there are also hundreds of people who come visit the site, every single day. This confirms that there is an interest in these issues.
As a closing note, I should point out that the show didn't get it entirely right. They state that the site was started by a New Zealander. This is not correct. I am not a New Zealander. It is true that I was in New Zealand at the time I had the idea for the site, but the effort is an international one with active partiicipants in 3 continents!

Well, it's not because you don't see a sign in the photo that there wasn't one. That said, even if there was no sign, the parking space is clearly marked and designated as a disability parking space, through markings on the ground. The lack of "proper" signage does not mean the space is not a

I don't see a sign, therefor the handicap space is not valid.

I do think that increased fines would make a big difference. However, the fines are really only applicable on "public" property. Anything in a store carpark, or university, it's all deemed private property and traffic warden are not allowed to ticket there... *that* would be an important change to allow.
