Caughtya.org Is Closing Down

Caughtya.org is no longer accepting submissions. The site will be shut down completely in the next few months.

This was not an easy decision to reach. I simply no longer have the financial, emotional or time resources to run the site.

Also, my enthusiasm for running the site declined after being assaulted in June 2010 when I asked someone if they'd forgotten to display their parking permit.

In the 6 years the site has been active, over 500 individual disability parking infractions were documented in over 15 countries. The site generated press in the Wall Street Journal, USA Today, the New York Times and several other newspapers worldwide, as well as on Good Morning America.

There has been anecdotal evidence that behaviours were changing as a result of the site - people have reported hearing "don't park in the disability space without a permit otherwise your photo will appear on the internet". Other people have told me how having their car appear on Caughtya.org made them rethink their illegal use of mobility parking and stop poaching the spaces.

Thanks to all who helped with the website (you know who you are), send in photos (you also know who you are). Your assistance in making this site a success has been appreciated.

The taxi company was contacted and their general manager is going to look into it. He said: "If you have any additional information on the date and time of this incident I would welcome the receipt of that so we can identify the driver concerned at the time and address the matter with them directly.
